Puri

Went to Puri by Road. It is 500 Kms. from Kolkata. Up to Bhuwneshwar it is 2X2 excellent road except a patch between Balasore and Bhadrak. This patch is under slow construction, one side is ready and we had to keep on moving from left to right and vica versa. From Bhuwneshwar to Puri road is double and good but come across slow moving and heavy traffic in day time.
Hiccups on the road : First big hiccup is at Kolaghat bridge around 100 kms from Kolkata . It is a long narrow bridge under repair for months. Repair work has converted the bridge to one way traffic. At any given point of time there are hundreds of heavy vehicles standing at the both end of the bridge. You have to be very smart and drive through the wrong way to overtake and then to wait for your pass at the bridge. If you are lucky you may get your side ON.
Second is Bengal Orrisa border near Jaleshwar. Badly managed. You have to stop to pay recently introduced Orrisa Road Tax for non Orissa vehicles. Tax is high. Rs.550 for Alto.
Third is Cuttuck. Heavy Local traffic from Cuttuck to Bhuwneshwar.
Weather is a little hot in day time but pleasant in the morning and evening but cool breeze, blowing all the time is having a soothing effect.
